Waste water conference in Verona highlights CIRCULAR BIOCARBON

In October, CIRCULAR BIOCARBON presented its work at a waste water conference in Verona, highlighting it as a key project in Europe’s circular transition. During the presentation, project partner Gruppo Capnoted that the project’s multi-site biorefinery reduces the environmental impact of waste by transforming it into high-value resources. Gruppo Cap further highlighted that the collaborative effort behind CIRCULAR BIOCARBON will contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable solutions towards a zero-waste future.

CIRCULAR BIOCARBON’s work was highly relevant for the conference, which gathered industry and research organisations to discuss nnovative technologies in wastewater treatment, renewable energy and resource recovery. CIRCULAR BIOCARBON’s presentation focused in particular on PHA recovery and its regulatory barriers, such as end-of waste regulations, reiterating the importance of fostering collaborations to overcome such challenges.

Speakers further emphasized the necessity of promoting synergies across various industrial sectors to close energy and material cycles, thereby reducing waste and optimizing resources. The key conclusion was that an integrated and sustainable approach is essential for the transition to a circular, emission-free economy.

To learn more about CIRCULAR BIOCARBON join the City Interest Group webinar on 4 December that will explore the potential of transforming biowaste into valuable bio-based materials, moving beyond more mainstream energy applications, and with a particular focus on urban and regional bioeconomies. The webinar will also present local economic development policies, such as bioeconomy clusters and industrial symbiosis, that create a supportive environment for the development and uptake of bio-based materials.
