Joint CIRCULAR BIOCARBON & Project Ô workshop: from waste to resource in the primary sector

15 - 16 June 2022

Almendralejo (Badajoz), Spain - Acosta Centro Hotel, Plaza Extremadura s/n, 06200

Joint CIRCULAR BIOCARBON & Project Ô workshop: from waste to resource in the primary sector

CIRCULAR BIOCARBON and Project Ô will host a hybrid 2-day workshop in the Spanish city Almendralejo to discuss the importance of circular economy associated to wastewater (and other sources of organic waste), in the primary sector. The event will focus on the improvement of the productivity and sustainability of the primary sector when shifting to a circular economy, from waste to resource, paving the way for potential uptake of CIRCULAR BIOCARBON's bio-based value-added end-products with agronomic value.

In Almendralejo, the primary sector deserves special consideration seeing that the city's commercial activities are mainly based on agriculture. Moreover, the city experiences drought periods, in which access to an alternative source of water for the primary sector (agriculture) would be advantageous. Project Ô covers such a necessity, by providing an affordable and easy system, ready for installation at the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP), which is able to deliver safe water for reuse in different usages, including agriculture.  Not only water is necessary for agriculture, but also other products which supplement crop nutrition. For this purposes, fertilisers are commonly used. At this respect, CIRCULAR BIOCARBON will be able to offer final and greener products for agriculture to outperform the results of the products currently used, and customisable according to specific needs.

Combining the results of both Project Ô and CIRCULAR BIOCARBON, the primary sector in Almendralejo may be the first recipient of a package of important pieces of information for enabling a circular, bio-economy based, agriculture. Both projects put the focus on circularity and adaptability according to needs of specific places.

The event will take place in-person (Day 1) and online (Day 2). Discussions will be held in Spanish only.
